Tshimong won the bid to host the Ekurhuleni Chris Hani Tournament 2017, in partnership with the Ekurhuleni Municipality and the Gauteng Department of Education.

Tshimong began by providing a workshop on the legacy and contribution of Chris Hani. We showed the learners documentary videos about Chris Hani’s life in the struggle; his views on socialism; and snippets from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Each video was followed by discussions led by Tshimong. Many of the learners left the room feeling enriched, inspired and ready to share ideas about Hani through debating and public speaking.

We provided debating and public speaking training and manuals to the learners, educators, Ekurhuleni Municipality officials and librarians participating in the tournament.
